What would a chipmunk like to have for Halloween? Something made of nuts, of course! Now here it is: the “chipmunk halloween illuminated nutshell series” ! I rasped the bottom of those nine hazelnuts open, removed the tasty contents (fed it to my hungry little chipmunk – she was quite delighted) and drilled/carved the laughing faces. I cleaned the inside of the nutshells and painted it with white gloss paint. Then I took a small board of spruce wood, sawed it into a triagular shape, smoothed it with sand paper, stained and varnished it, and drilled nine holes. Furthermore, I took some branches of beech wood, cut them into three different lengths, drilled holes through them and glued them right onto the holes of the wooden triangle. Then I put bright flickering (candle light effect!) LEDs with series resistors into the holes and glued them into place. Finally I placed the nutshells right over the LEDs and glued them on. A 9V-block is the power source for this spooky craft. When switched on, the spooky faces glow and flicker in the dark. My chipmunk likes it very much ! Trick or treat ?
